ISCBC is working collaboratively with the horticulture industry to promote responsible gardening by reducing the sale and purchase of invasive plants. The PlantWise program includes both industry and consumer components, supporting the efforts of industry leaders who provide direction to gardeners at the point of sale, as well as through education and awareness in BC communities.
Useful to both consumers and industry is the PlantWise TIPS factsheet as well as the Regional List of invasive species that is organized by regions of BC. Education tools created more specifically for the public/consumers include the Grow Me Instead booklet, snapshot brochure and wallet card. These publications assist in accurately identifying unwanted invasive horticulture plants. These resources are available for download and/or order through the ISCBC office:

Voluntary PlantWise Industry Partnership Guide
An essential part of the PlantWise program (intended for ornamental horticulture industry members rather than consumers) is the PlantWise Industry Partnership Guide.
This resource provides tips, hints and solutions for businesses, to refer to when considering or already in transition to becoming invasive free.
We’re here to help! Resources and support are completely optional and are up to the discretion of the industry partner to use. Online webinar training, resources, E-communications, and other useful tools and information will be provided to partners to best suit their needs.
We encourage retailers to provide education and information out to customers to communicate your commitment to your community and to your environment. More informed customers, means reduced spread and introduction of invasive plants and more business for you as you promote non-invasive, alternative plants.
There are two training webinars that everyone can enjoy:
